The true meaning of geek has changed significantly over time, and there is no longer a definitive definition. The word dork, nerd, dweeb, spod, and gimp have the same connotations as geek, but a lot of people choose to classify different meanings amongst these terms. Before, being described as a geek tends to be an insult. In fact in 1876, the meaning geek is a “fool“, then later became “a performer engaging in bizarre acts like biting the head off a live chicken.” Today, the term geek has become more complimentary, it became quite trendy to be a geek, given that many technical people had become very successful in their chosen field.
